It might look like a completely hopeless situation – how can anybody get a job, when so many are being fired? But this is not exactly like that. Yes, it is most likely that you are not going to find vacant positions openly advertised on the companies’ web pages or anywhere else. However, Human Resources are looking for people – full of fresh ideas, talented, bold people. People, who will bring positive changes, invent new techniques and rewrite the history of the business development. Who told you, that you cannot be one of those people? Please, consider the following: Career transition. There should be something you have always wanted to do for your living, but never got down to it, because you had another job, because you did not have relevant experience to do this kind of work, because, because… This is the time! Just be bold and go ahead! Career transition is so much easier in the situation of economic crisis – the companies owners have always had the best trained and accordingly educated professionals, leading their business, which finally ended in poor condition, caused by the world economic situation. They do not have much to loose – they are ready to give a chance to fresh people. And “fresh” here does not necessarily mean “young”; it is not going to make much difference if your hair is touched by silver. Warm contacts. How are you going to get to know that big bosses actually ARE looking? Do not count on media; your social network is almost your only chance. Make up a list of your so-called “warm contacts” – people, who you have somewhat personal relations with. Those are your family, close and distant, friends, old and newly met, colleagues, former and present (if you are currently employed), neighbors, acquaintances from sports clubs, political parties, parent meetings from your kids’ school. Let them know you are currently looking for a job; make them bear you in mind in case they get to know about any available positions. You might be surprised how good it actually works. Do not freak out, because ‘they’ say the world is in economic crisis today – get yourself a dream job! |
